I ran across this in the Huffington Post.
The idea is to photograph naked women in a non-sexual way. Photographer Jennifer Toole has done just that to striking effect, but I would be hard pressed to say that the end result isn’t sexual anyway—and the interviews certainly are.
These is an honesty and directness about the whole thing which is very refreshing. I love great photography—regardless of its subject matter—but the combination, in these cases, is compelling.
I’m left with the thought that women should be this candid more often.
Who would have thought that you could make an original contribution to creativity through photographing nude women and then accompanying the photographs with interviews.
So simple. So beautiful. So thought-provoking. And—despite the stated intent—so sexual..
