On Kickstarter—the impressively stable Quadcopter Hoverbike—one of the most original aviation developments I have seen in a long time (from Malloy Aeronautics). Singularly exciting and worth supporting!

Man must rise above the Earth—to the top of the atmosphere and beyond—for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives.

The quadcopter drone version of the Hoverbike can travel at speeds of up to 45 mph

The Hoverbike can be folded to a third of its full length

Best you head to Kickstarter to see the video of the drone flying. Two things struck me about it:

  • It’s a counterintuitive design unlike anything I have ever seen before in that field.
  • In a sector—rotary aviation—where vibration is notorious for being a problem (which means a helicopter, essentially, is trying to shake itself apart), it seems remarkably stable and is even showing delivering a glass of orange juice without a drop being spilled.

Extraordinary! These guys seem to be on to something which could be very big indeed.
