GIVEN THAT I ADVOCATE THINKING HOLISTICALLY, IS SPLITTING UP MY BLOG A GOOD IDEA?
DAMNED IF I KNOW—BUT I’M WORKING TOWARDS TRYING IT.
I may dislike the word ‘blogging’ with some passion (actually not so much any more) but blogging, itself, has become important to me—somewhat to my surprise.
- It’s therapeutic.
- I don’t know quite why—but it’s fun.
- It’s challenging.
- It ensures I write every day (most important).
- It’s a discipline (we writers have to be self-disciplined).
- It keeps me in touch with family, friends, and readers.
- It helps me share what is on my mind.
- It may just convince the occasional reader about a cause that is near and dear to my heart.
- It is a record (of sorts).
I got somewhat behind-hand after my move on May6/7 thanks to the move itself and my software acting up, but yesterday I am proud to say I caught up. I don’t particularly like backfilling—but I dislike missing a day even more. Unless I have made an error (decidedly possible) I am now up to date—and feeling appropriately warm and fuzzy.
I am working towards writing FIVE blogs—as below. Since I haven’t gone totally insane yet, I m only planning to write one on a daily basis. The others will be topped upon a weekly basis—and/or as material comes to hand.
- AUTHOR VICTOR (Daily)
- PROGRESSIVE VICTOR
- MILITARY VICTOR
- TECHNO VICTOR
- NOT-ENTIRELY-SERIOUS VICTOR
What is holding up this exercise? I need some technical help, I want to get my website up first, if possible, and I want to find a more permanent base before adding to my workload.
I have put huge effort into my website over the last five weeks plus, in particular, and have been somewhat amazed—and delighted—at how much I have been able to improve it (and it was pretty good in the first place). But, apart from extensive re-writing, and additions, I have made numerous changes to the layout and look of the thing—and they seem to be working.
It’s frustrating not to be able to get the thing up immediately, but I lack the necessary technical competence (so far) and have to work within the limits of my circumstances.
I’ll cover the backstory in my memoirs.
